Jefferson Hubbell(1974-) worked and chipped at his craft and art from youth. Frustrated by the demands and vagaries of literature, the theatre, and botanic gardening, he turned his focus to masonry. His first public brick/stone/mortar allegorical mosaic was completed in 2000, for the 'Gallery 701' in Columbia, South Carolina. Its use of quarried, found, collected, and reclaimed materials was iconic and, quietly bore the dissolution of the institution for which it was to have been a grand entrance. This first work was razed in 2007. Other works of his stand in Columbia, S.C.: some dozen of his 'spires' of various masonry materials, his sculpture gardens at 905 Chevis Street and 2437 Stark Street, and various domestic garden artifacts, hearths, patios, and hardscapes. He continues to work and live in Columbia. For inquiries about commissioning Jefferson to create a sculpture for you, contact him by phone at 803.446.4667 or by email at jeffersonhubbell@yahoo.com.
